  • COMPLETE MIXTURE for Hermit Crabs and Halloween Moon Crabs. Already has sand, coco fiber, and other ingredients that replicate natural environment. Water may need to be added for proper burrowing consistency
  • SAFE FOR HERMIT CRABS unlike other substrates that use dangerous calcium carbonate that hardens when wet. Also does not contain salt which can burn freshly molted exoskeleton.
  • GROW LIVE PLANTS with your hermit crabs to replicate their natural environment and make your enclosure look pretty. Please see description for list of safe plants
  • CONTAINS FOOD AND MINERALS that both hermit crabs and bioactive clean up crew can munch on

  • We recommend at least 4 bags for a 20 High aquarium or 18x18x18 enclosure. Please do not keep hermit crabs in a tank less than 10 gallons

BioBedding Hermit Crab is the perfect substrate for your bioactive hermit crab enclosure! This substrate is a unique blend of ingredients designed to jump-start the bioactive environment. It helps to maintain a proper level of humidity, yet retains moisture in a way to easily provide humid hides, support burrowing and foster a community of cleaner invertebrates and beneficial organisms. How to Prep This bag has already been mixed with Quikcrete Play Sand! This means no mixing and no mess for you! Add mixture to the enclosure to a minimum depth of 3 times the height of your largest hermit crab. It is likely that no water will need to be added, but if the substrate does not hold its shape for burrowing, slowly add dechlorinated water until it is "sand castle" consistency. Clean up Crew Springtails and Isopods help keep your tank clean! They eat droppings and other unwanted things that occur in terrariums. We recommend dwarf whites or Porcellionides pruinosus isopods due to their small size and ability to survive in tropical environments.
